Thursday, June 2, 2011 My Journey to Alanya and Istanbul, Turkey!!! Merhaba!!! I promise to post pictures soon, I have had some computer difficulties!
Najla and I left May 2nd Monday at 6:45 pm and got into London at 1:00pm! We had a 6 hour lay over in London, then flew to Istanbul. Then a 7 hour lay over in Istanbul, but we flew to Antalya. We took a 2 hour bus ride from Antalya to Alanya, where we met Lara Adrienne and our driver Ali. They drove us to our hotel Emir Fosse Hotel and we had lunch. After traveling for 34 hours, Ersoy asked us to dance for him, so Najla and I danced solos and duets! That same night we moved out of the hotel and to our apartment that was 5 minutes from the beach! We also were told we were dancing 3 shows that night, after we had all makeup on and ready to go we found out the shows were cancelled! So Ersoy our manager took us to the top of the city to show us the gorgeous view of Alanya, quite breath taking! Music was everywhere..a couple violinist and tabla players, pretty amazing to dance to live music right then and there! Ersoy took us to some awesome disco's to show us where we would be dancing,we got back at 3:00am! The next day, May 5th, we went to a hamam which was incredible, my first experience of the turkish bath and massage! Then we got ready quickly to dance our duet and audience participation at the Emir Fosse Hotel! It was a great show! Audience participation is huge at the hotels! I didn't dance one taquism while I was there all upbeat songs/drum solos and of course audience participation! May 6th Najla and I went to the beautiful Cleopatra beach..later that night we danced at Summer Garden! That was an awesome show, we danced samba to a famous dj's choice of music, nothing like improv lol! We had planned to dance to samba music that is what makes it samba but the owner of the club wasnted top 40 music! Then we danced gogo later that night, the cool thing about that night was we were televised and many famous artist were there! We got home at 3:30am! May 7th, Saturday night was another beach day and had an awesome show on the Starcraft Boat where we danced our samba(10 minutes) and belly dance duets(20 minutes)! May 8th was a sunny Sunday day..we went with Ersoy's first wive and three kids on a picnic. Then he took us to the Kisil Alan park where everyone was flying kites and listening to an amazing famous band called Orhon Hakalmas, we danced, ate ice cream, and felt like we were really experiencing their culture, great day! Monday May 9th, Najla and I were asked to be videotaped on the beach by the Cleopatra Alis hotel, laying out and looking out their pamphlet to promote their hotel. We walked around the city that day and went to the Ottoman House which is an incredible and highly respected restaurant with excellent service and a lovely atmosphere! After walking around the town we went back to the apartment to get ready for our two shows that night! Najla and I danced belly dance and samba at the 5 star Jasmin Hotel then shortly after we samba danced at the Sun Beach disco, that was a lot of fun! May 10th, Ersoy took us to the supermarket which Americans would call a mall. We had pizza and chai(tea) and looked out aruond the mall and did errands. I had so much tea in Turkey, it is extremely common to drink tea all the time, 24/7! Since our manager and our drivers don't speak English we had to learn Turkish, I was so thankful for my phrase book! In the tourist parts of Alanya, English is common but it is such a huge Russian and Dutch tourist area so it was a good challenge to learn the important words/phrases to get by. The food was amazing and fresh, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables every day! May 11th, Wednesday we went to the beach for a couple hours! Then I danced a solo at the Az Kebuze hotel, that was a lot of fun!! Najla and I hung out at the Aydin Hotel every day and or night because the people there treated us like family. They served us tea and let us do our internet there. May 13th, Friday we went to the beach for a couple hours and then we danced three gogo sets at the Gogo Disco Bar and got home at 3:30am! May 14th, Saturday we went to the wonderful Cleopatra beach and then belly danced a duet at the Enjoy Disco Hotel! May 15th Sunday we went to the wonderful Ottoman house and had breakfast with Adnan, we loved it there so much! Then we went to the Dalmatas caves, we forgot our cameras but the caves were incredible! We walked to the beach, layed out and then we went to the Black Pearl Restaurant to eat and had a blast! The restaurant was like a disco, the employees danced for us, they gave us free drinks and it was great food! May 16th, Monday we went with Ersoy to meet his other business partners...we met Salih who was an awesome choreographer. They took us to the town of Alsalar and we walked around the town and met more of his business partners. We made many stops that day, including Ersoy's second wife and his cute little boy. The highlight was meeting Alexander Ruback and finding out that we would be dancing to his Norwegian folk music the next day, again fun fabulous improv!! Alexander was really friendly and nice, he gave me some of his cds and his dvd of stardom! I got home really late, Ersoy's policeman drove me home! May 17th, Tuesday afternoon Najla and I met with Alexander Ruback, along with meeting the Russian gogo dancer for the first time. Alexander told us we would be dancing to three of his songs that we of course didn't know and have fun improving, which we did that night at the Bellman Bistro! Then I gogo danced at the Crystal Hotel and got home at 4am! May 18th I belly danced at the Galary Hotel and then the lovely Paradise Hotel! May 19th was my busiest night of dance..I woke up went to the beautiful Cleopatra beach and then walked around the town..then belly danced at the Orient Hotel, rushed to the next hotel Az Kebuze(again) loved that hotel, then danced at Kirsdere and received altura(tips), then belly danced for the lovely Amanda Jones who is a very famous transvestite at the homey Shaca Restaurant..I got home at 2:00am! May 20th Friday I went to the beach again for a little bit.. we were told we were moving into an apartment in Oba with two Turkish dancers. This was the day that Najla and I decided to go back home. I danced a solo at the beautiful Jasmin Hotel..on the way home we ran out of gas, too funny! A few weeks before that our driver got a flat tire..but everyone is so friendly in Turkey they helped us get home so it all worked out great! So May 21st Saturday, we moved into our one bedroom apartment with two bunk beds and the four of us to the room, lol!! The girls were really sweet and we all got a long really well! Smoking is very common everywhere in Turkey so my challenge was getting used to smoke in our place...but I knew it wouldn't be for very long so that was ok! May 22nd, Sunday we went to the beach for three hours which was lovely..we were told we need our college diplomas for our visas so we had to get those to him. We found a store that had dvds for cheap so we bought a few and watched some great movies! Picture a smoky bedroom with no screen doors and lots of mosquitoes, woohooo! We had a ton of mosquitoe bites!!! They are all gone now:))) May 24th, Tuesday went to the beach and then belly danced two solos that night..Patrol Hotel and the Holiday Garden, had great shows!!! May 25th, our last day of performing in Turkey..we danced a duet at the awesome Kirsdere. The beautiful Kirsdere wanted us to stay in Turkey and dance but we already had booked our tickets home.. The next two days in Turkey were amazing!!!!! Thursday May 26th.. we packed and then Adnan from the Ottoman House picked us up and helped us get our bus ticket to Istanbul and to go the post office to mail our samba headresses. Then he took us to this beautiful outdoor restaurant with a stream called Dere Piknik...the stream is called Dimchai creek, absolutely breathtaking..we stayed there all day and then we got on the bus for Istanbul at 9:00pm and got off the bus at 11:00am. 14 hour ride, it actually went by really fast. May 27th we were in the wonderful, amazing, beautiful Istanbul!! Oh I loved Istanbul so much!!! Alanya was beautiful but Istanbul was incredible with it's architecture, culture, such an awesome metropolitan city!! We were only staying for the night so we made the most of it! Our hotel was so cute, it was right by the Four Seasons Hotel called Side Hotel. We went to the Isasophia Mosque, then the Blue Mosque, and then the Grand Bazaar!! I could of stayed in Istanbul for a really long time...We went to Doy Doy for dinner and had a glamorous view of the city!! I love how a good number of the restaurants and hotels have rooftop seating to listen to the prayer call and the neighboring calls and the lights on the Blue Mosque!!! After dinner we went to the roof of our hotel and drank tea drinking in all the beauty around us!! I am really glad I traveled to Turkey, I had some amazing experiences along with some challenges with my manager but I really look forward to dancing in Turkey again, especially Istanbul!!!

Monday, October 18, 2010 I am back from Guangzhou, China!!!
I had an amazing time peforming with Najla, Nadira, Lisa Yasmeen, and Ceanna at the Chime Long Paradise Theme Park for 5 weeks in Guangzhou, China! We left September 13th and got back October 18th. We performed 4 times a day 6 days a week. We also danced for the mayor of China, performed for a special event at the Chime Long Convention Center, danced on an Octopus float for a parade for a week for the festivals the first 10 days of October, and got to perform at the Magical theater a couple days in a row. We had a blast! Lots of dancing and we met so many amazing people!

Hawaii was such an incredible amazing experience with such beautiful people! It took me a while to get adjusted coming home because of how magical my time was there. Amy Sigil is incredible and I look forward to dancing with her again, Dahlia is also such an inspiration in the belly dance world, and because of lovely beautiful Delilah I was able to go on this life changing trip! I love you all! April 1st-8th, we had 17 workshops of almost 2 hours each in 5 days!

Friday, June 12, 2009 Exciting News in June/July! I am excited and honored to be a belly dancer of the amazing Fleurs'd Egypte company!! So many incredible dancers I get to dance with! Thank you Najla (the Artistic Director), Nadira, Mahira, Katia, Noor, and BreAnn!

More exciting news is the Solstice Parade! I will be dancing Khalegy style dance in a turquoise thobe with 20 other dancers following Dahlia's lead June 20th starting at 12 pm, don't miss out! Delilah has around 100 people total in this parade dancing with the theme of Water, flow around obstacles!
